Description
My work celebrates the timeless beauty of Tsumami Zaiku, a traditional Japanese art form that transforms small squares of silk into delicate flowers through precise hand-folding techniques. I am passionate about preserving this centuries-old craft while presenting it in a contemporary way through wearable art and decorative pieces.
What makes my work distinctive is that I hand-dye my own silk before each piece is created. By carefully blending colours and creating subtle gradients, every flower has its own unique character and depth. Each petal is individually folded, shaped, and assembled entirely by hand, making every piece one of a kind.
Inspired by the changing seasons and the beauty of nature, I create brooches, hair accessories, earrings, and floral art that capture the elegance of Japanese craftsmanship. Through my work, I hope to share not only the intricate artistry of Tsumami Zaiku but also the sense of joy, nostalgia, and connection that handmade objects can bring.
