What is the "Goshu Kariyushi Kai" (Australia Kariyushi Association)?

🌺 Organization's Purpose
The purpose of the "Goshu Kariyushi Kai" is to promote fellowship among members while introducing and disseminating Okinawan traditional culture, performing arts, and music in Australia.

🌺 Activities and Philosophy
The organization conducts activities, such as performing and demonstrating Okinawan folk songs (Minyo) and original music played on the traditional instrument Sanshin, as well as the Okinawan traditional dance "Eisa," at regular social gatherings and various events like Japan Festivals held throughout Australia.

The Okinawan word "Kariyushi" means "auspicious," "happiness," and "harmony with nature." The "Goshu Kariyushi Kai" endorses Australia's "Multiculturalism," which aims to build a peaceful society where multiple cultures coexist beyond race and nationality. In line with the Okinawan spirit of "Ichariba Chōdē" (Once we meet, we are all brothers and sisters), the association conducts various charity activities, including support for areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Membership is open to all individuals who are interested in Okinawan culture and music and agree with the organization's purpose, activities in Australia, and philosophy.
